3 Thought Thursday: November 28th

By Monique Rhodes

Here is your weekly dose of three things that have impressed me during the week or that I am contemplating.

My favourite article of this week -
Dalai Lama: We need an education of the heart - The Dalai Lama writing in the Los Angeles Times about his thoughts on how we could look at education differently.
"At present our educational systems are oriented mainly toward material values and training one's understanding. But reality teaches us that we do not come to reason through understanding alone. We should place greater emphasis on inner values."

My favourite book of this week -
I am on a book reading bender right now. I think I've read 7 books in the last 2 weeks. There are two reasons. Firstly I had bronchitis for the past 2 weeks and was housebound. And secondly I'm aware that in the last few years I've read so much online that my attention span has lessened. I don't like this. And I know that reading books helps immensely to rectify this.
If you liked Gone Girl and you feel like a twisting turning thriller to both amuse and bamboozle you then this is definitely a book you don't want to miss. I read it in one sitting because it was pretty much impossible to put down. So if you feel like reading books that will help you settle your agitated mind then this is a great place to start.

My Favourite video of the week -
I always knew Iceland as a country of very heavy drinkers. This fascinated me to see how they turned this big problem around.
